Highlights of Nassau by Jeep/ Jeep Exploration

Tour Description

After a short walk to the staging area, where you'll meet your day's guides, you'll be given a general orientation and a safety briefing. Then you'll be broken down into groups of four who will share each 4WD Jeep, and select the first driver. Then your off, caravan style, on your day's exploration of Nassau and New Providence Island.

Just a word of warning: in the Bahamas, they drive on the left side of the street.

Each Jeep will be equipped with a walkie-talkie, allowing you to listen to your guide point out interesting sights and landmarks as you drive through the city and the island's interior.

As you pass through the typical countryside, you'll note the old world colonial architecture styles that came from the influence of the British Loyalists who fled America following the Revolutionary War in the 1770s. A good example of this is the House of Parliament.

The forts of Nassau are of particular interest, with Fort Charlotte, located on West Bay Street, being the largest. You'll see the fort as you drive past. During your journey, you'll also see the former residences of the island's famous and infamous, as well as other historical landmarks.

Your last stop will be at a local beach, where you can relax or take a swim before caravanning through the countryside back to the Festival Place Welcome Center and your ship.
