Tour Description

While en route from the Coxen Hole or Mahogany Bay Cruise Ship Terminal complex, you will learn about the history and traditions of Roatan as you make your way to Gumbalimba Park, located in West End, just north of West Bay.

Gumbalimba Park is a botanical garden that features cascading waterfalls, swinging island rope bridges, plants trees and flowers that are native to the island of Roatan, an aviary containing a variety of birds and parrots, as well as a monkey habitat. It's a beautiful, peaceful place, and the monkeys are quite friendly; they enjoy having their picture taken.

The park also features a "Coxen's Cave" history tour and pirate's cave, with artwork and history painted on the cave walls, life-size pirates, treasure, weapons and maps.

When it's time to cool off, you can visit Gumbalimba's peaceful sandy beach, complete with lounge chairs situated for the sun lovers and hammocks hung between the trees for shade lovers. Showers and bathrooms are available at the beach.

Note: Drinks and snacks are available throughout the park at your own expense. Please note that no bags, food or liquids are allowed in animal areas of park. Strollers will have to park in designated area before entering monkey refuge.
